According to a study conducted by the journal Annals of Nutrition & Metabolism, the best and the healthiest choice for breakfast is the old-fashioned oatmeal.
This study included 36 men and women who were separated into 3 groups. The first group was given oatmeal for breakfast, the second group was given cornflakes and the third one just drank water. Also, all of the participants ate the same food for lunch.
The job for the medical experts was to measure the state of satiety of the participants. Their results showed that the people who consumed oatmeal were the least hungry during the morning and afternoon. The experts also noted that the oatmeal had beneficial effects in people with excess weight because they ate 50% fewer calories for lunch.
The second group ( the participants who consumed cornflakes) felt hungry after 3 hours. This is due to the fact that the oatmeal stays longer in the stomach, which is not the case with cornflakes. In addition to this, the cornflakes have also increased the glucose levels in the blood.
And the third group (the participants that drank water) also felt hungry 3 hours after breakfast.
